MX Records Verification
DNS records known as MX or MailExchanger for a given domain are what indicate to which servers email directed to that domain should be routed. In the case of an AVAS named e.g. avasprueba, which protects domains dom1.com and dom2.com, the following DNS records must be included in the zones dom1 and dom2.com:
@ IN MX 10 avas-mx-avasprueba-1.planisys.net.
@ IN MX 10 avas-mx-avasprueba-2.planisys.net.
The Maildrop of an AVAS is the server provided by the client where the email repository of their domains is located.
The Maildrop is described by a domain name (e.g. servidordemail1.miempresa.com) or by an IP address.
When a client configures their AVAS, they must specify the domain name (FQDN or Fully Qualified Domain Name) or IP address of the maildrop, to which the MXs should send emails that have passed the Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Anti-malware filters, etc.
In the case of the Corpmail service provided by Planisys, Support will indicate which MX records to use or they will be configured directly through Planisys’ PDNS service.
The Maildrop can be, for example, an MS-Exchange or Zimbra server on-premises or in a public cloud.
In cases where your domains are hosted by shared services like Office365 or G-Suite, we will consider the MX name as the maildrop.
If your domains are hosted on Office365, the maildrop is e.g. miempresa-com.mail.protection.outlook.com.
If your domains are hosted on G-Suite, the maildrop is fixed ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
Whether before pointing the MX of a domain to be protected to the MX of the AVAS, or simply to verify the receipt of emails from the MX to the Maildrop, tests can be carried out from Verify MXs in AVAS Users. Enter the General Administration of the new Company.
Go to the Verify MXs tab and enter the email address to which you want to send a test email from the MX.
Click on Send Test Emails to send the tests.
This will send a test email to the entered address from each of the MXs assigned to that company.
Warning
It is important to note that the address to which the MX test emails are sent must belong to one of the domains to be protected for that company.
You can verify the correct arrival of the test emails by entering Incoming Mailaudit within the Users and Domains Panel.
If the emails are shown as Clean, it means that they were delivered to the client’s Maildrop.
If the emails are marked with a question mark ´?´, this means that the email is being rejected by the Maildrop.
You can see the message with which the email is being rejected by clicking on the Information button.
In new setups, the most common reason for a message being rejected is that Planisys IP blocks have not been allowed in the Maildrop’s Firewall.
Verify that these IP blocks are allowed in the Firewall and try again.
