DNS Spoofing

What is DNS Spoofing?

DNS spoofing, also known as DNS cache poisoning, is a type of cyberattack in which DNS records are deliberately manipulated to redirect users to a fake or malicious website that imitates the legitimate site the user intended to visit.

Once on the fraudulent site, users may enter their credentials or sensitive information, believing they are on a legitimate page. The attacker can steal this data or even install malware, such as viruses or worms, on the victim’s device, gaining unauthorized—and potentially persistent—access to the system and personal information.
